Best for: orders under 15 CBM that don't fill a full container. Share space, share cost.
Best for: large bulk orders filling a 20ft or 40ft container. Most economical at scale.
Best for: urgent restocks, new product launches, or high-value goods where speed outweighs cost.
Best for: samples, small parcels, or emergency restocks under 100kg via DHL, FedEx, or UPS.
Best for: China-to-Europe shipments where speed matters more than sea but cost matters more than air.
SMARTER IMPORT DECISIONS
Incoterms Explained for Amazon Sellers & Importers
Incoterms define who is responsible for costs and risk at each point in the shipping journey. Choosing the wrong one can leave you exposed to unexpected charges. Here’s what the most common ones mean for eCommerce importers.
Ex Works — highest risk for the buyer. The supplier's responsibility ends the moment goods are ready at their factory. You pay for everything from that point — inland transport, export clearance, freight, import duties. We do not recommend this for new importers without a trusted freight forwarder in place.
Free On Board — the most common choice for Amazon sellers. The supplier covers costs until goods are loaded onto the vessel at the Chinese port. From that point, you take responsibility for freight, insurance, and import clearance. This gives you control over your freight forwarder and shipping costs.
Cost, Insurance & Freight — supplier manages more, but so does their markup. The supplier arranges and pays for freight and insurance to the destination port. Risk transfers to you when goods arrive at the port. Often more expensive than FOB because suppliers mark up freight costs.
Delivered Duty Paid — maximum convenience, maximum supplier control. The supplier handles everything including import duties and delivery to your door. Easiest for beginners but gives you zero visibility or control over the logistics chain. Hidden costs are common. We recommend FOB for most of our clients.
